He can't be King Charles as this is a breed of spaniel. Otherwise, the Plant Talker's Arms perhaps?

    If not:

    The Boleyn Tavern

    bit careless really.
Hounslow the borough I live in has lost 42% and I don't think anybody local is that bothered. Mostly pubs that no-one cares about. The Magpie and Crown has had a compulsory purchase order served on it as they want to demolish and rebuild the High St. That one will be missed if it goes.

The percentage lost in Chingford must be higher than the 44% quoted and I would guarantee is higher in Leyton.

Given the dirtiness of most pub patrons, and how cash gets exchanged, I dread to think how many bugs get transferred by the bar staff putting a straw in your drink...! Never had a beer from a straw though.

When I was a student a regular event was a pub crawl with straws. I think the theory was that drinking beer through a straw got you pissed faster, though when you're 19 it doesn't take very long at the best of times. It being the late seventies the beer in most London pubs was highly carbonated keg, which outgassed in your mouth when sucked up through a straw: an odd sensation to say the least.
