It used to piss me off that the beer board outside the Bree Louise had Camra pub of the year on it and down the bottom in small letters North London branch. So I checked his award winning pies to see what prestigious award he had won and could only find a local publicity company had said that one of their pies was the best they had tasted.Award winning ales as well.YEAH.

I liked the Dog House. I was actually thinking of doing something similar - we have a stone shed at the bottom of our garden - I was thinking of calling it Far Corfe.

As Kevin Maher in today's Times notes 'It's hard to know what is more depressing here: the idea of a child beginning their life by staring down the neck of a beer bottle, or the parents who might get a kick out of the same.' Quite.

When Luther Blisset played for AFC Bournemouth in the late 80's, he bought a house on the outskirts of the village of Corfe Mullen and renamed it 'Far Corfe'. As a schoolboy at the time, there was always much sniggering whenever we caught a glimpse of the sign outside the house when passing by.

At the bottom it says "previous ventures into the hospitality industry ended prematurely".

Oh yes, I remember the one in South Wales and the one in Yorkshire that went spectacularly bust. So better luck with this one Neil.
