I was drinking in a long standing Wakefield pub last week, which has really upped its commitment to real ale since re-opening. The pumps almost always feature mainstream brown beers such as Spitfire, Pedigree etc. Chatting to the landlady, she told me that Doombar was viewed as being a little 'left field' by the regulars, being too hoppy for their palates! Gawd 'elp 'em if they tried something like Kirkstall Three Swords.
P.S Still a better beer than the execrable GK IPA.
