Alcohol doesn't solve problems .... but then again, neither does milk.
...four of them are in London and two of those are in ... Clerkenwell????? The hitherto undiscovered pub mecca.
North Bar is OK but doesn't even get in my top 10 pubs in Leeds, never mind the whole country.
And if the Oxford Bar didn't feature in the Rebus books, no one would even give it a second look.
Come On You Hatters!
I can claim 2,3,4,7,8. Not visited the Brighton venue at no. 5 - it'd better be good, there's a fair amount of competition (similar reasoning may explain why my Edinburgh visit overlooked no. 9).

2,3,4,6,7,9
no 5 seems to have an incorrect address in the '10-listing'!
I remember playing the old arcade game Frogger in the Leather Lane Clockhouse long before GK took it over and latterly the (IMO) rip-off Craft Beer Co.
I haven't been to the Gunmakers since the 1970s (it was listed in the 1974 GBG). It's great to see that a pub with a history of selling good beer (rather than a converted dump) is now at the vanguard of the good beer pubs in this area.
I would be happy to revisit this place as long as it was early enough to get a seat but wouldn't bother with the Craft Beer place even if someone slipped me a £50.00 note outside.

Been in 2,3,4 and 7 all within the last year.I have to say that my mission is often focussed on trying to finding outstanding real ale ,and these places are brave enough to go well beyond stocking Doom Bar,Bombardier,GK IPA,Courage Best, etc. They may be more pricey for the area and can hardly be called traditional but I have enjoyed my visits.

Four out of ten from the smoke is ridiculously London-centric. As some of the provincial choices seem rather random, it makes you wonder whether Mr Parker Bowles has hauled his over privileged arse north of Watford.
I've managed the Craft BeerCo, North Bar and the Oxford Bar. I've always thought there's a touch of the ''Emperor's New Clothes' about the North Bar, but have to admit I quite liked the Oxford Bar. Good quality beer and a cracking atmosphere when I called. Admittedly, not top ten material though.
