Does this Humphrey bloke have a bright red face and shouts a lot? Years ago I wrote to Sams asking if they could provide a list of their pubs. and got a refusal with a similar line about them being a small struggling local brewery. I agree it does serve him right. He sounds like a Yorkshire Donald Trump.

I can't even imagine any other circumstances where one might toy with the idea of deploying the phrase "makes Donald Trump look like a thoughtful international statesman"...

I have a great deal of time for Mr Humphrey, his only problem is that he believes it is 1858 hence his management style and distain for government meddling in his business.

I came up with an idea to present an award for our CAMRA branch awards night to the longest-closed pub in the branch for no good reason...guess who owns it?!

    Lower Ship Inn

The "long-running dispute about a tree" is just perfect Humph-stuff!

I wonder if it's "management style" or "Government meddling" to blame here. We've got lots of un-let SS pubs in Yorkshire, mainly we think because word is out about Mr Humphrey's style.

In case you missed it; http://samsmiths.info/ although the forum bit seems to have a problem.
