I am now wondering if we should put a Wetherspoons ad on the back of our drop cards with the tagline "You will be Assimilated" at the bottom.

Harking back to people who give away money in the street I had to deal with one many years ago. The local citizens probably thought it was " Candid Camera", a popular TV program at the time, and avoided him like the plague. The chap still had most of his money but I still detained him under the Mental Health Act of the time and off he went to the big house. No care in the community at that time, you got pumped full of drugs and took on a vacant expression and a permanent dribble.

PS just like that look you see on certain JDW clients. Better stop ,its getting a bit close to home.

The one in Salisbury has become more like the bar in Star Wars, with life forms from several different dimensions drinking weird drinks from all over the galaxy.

M&B unveils seven-year deal with Brakes

Mitchells & Butlers (M&B) has unveiled a seven-year partnership with Brakes Group worth over £200m, delivering significant savings for the company across the duration of the contract.
M&B: signed a deal with Brakes Group

The arrangement will deliver a single multi-temperature service for all food and consumables products to Mitchells & Butlers’ 1600 restaurants and pubs.
The logistics solution will support M&B's growth strategy enabling a significant increase in the size of its estate of market-leading food brands and growth in individual outlet like-for-like sales.
The supply chain has been optimised to service Mitchells & Butlers at the lowest possible infrastructure cost whilst continuing to offer exceptional levels of customer service and satisfaction.
Mitchells & Butlers’ customers will continue to enjoy high quality, fresh and regional produce through this strategic partnership which will reduce the number of deliveries to restaurants and pubs, reducing food miles and protecting the environment.
Adam Fowle, chief executive, M&B, said: “This long-term contract with Brakes delivers significant and immediate cost savings to M&B whilst maintaining a very high quality and reliable service into the business.
"This combination of a low cost and high service distribution arrangement provides a strong platform for our growth strategy in the restaurant and pub market.”
Philip Jansen, group chief executive, Brakes Group, said: “We are excited by the confidence M&B has shown in us. This long term commitment allows us to invest to support their strategic growth plan.
"We look forward to working closely with Mitchells & Butlers to provide great food, service and solutions that deliver exceptional value and benefit.”

Not as drunk as the Old Trafford groundsman who was clearly worse for wear when marking out the pitch incorrectly allowing Roy Carroll to make this superb save against Spurs a few years back.

    But am I bitter?. YEEESSSSSS!

It is good to see M & B and Brakes talk the same language because I'm blowed if I can follow what they are on about. Looks like a bit of self congratulatory back slapping. When I am hungry I dont think about food miles, just the distance from the kitchen to my table. Mind you the time it takes to arrive sometimes I do wander if the waiter was routed via Reading.
