People will always find ways to do the things they value, meanwhile in Scotland they have more Calvinism
They're encouraging people to take their own pint glass to the pub for a takaway to drink in the local park (on their own, presumably). But pubs are only allowed to dispense alcoholic beverages in sealed containers, so they are encouraging people to break the law by serving and receiving drinks in illicit receptacles.
Not to mention the fact that you can only meet one other person who is not in your household or support bubble if it is for the purpose of taking exercise together (like a walk in the park). Having a drink makes it illegal. So the only way you can open your sealed container in the park is if you're with members of your household/support bubble, and why would you do that when you can go home to drink it with them, where it's presumably not freezing and/or raining.
Seems like irresponsible journalism to me.
Come On You Hatters!
Good. Serves him right.
Another pointless decision as it creates pinch points whereby more people cram into pubs due to the restricted opening times. Then everyone leaves at the same time, often cramming onto public transport. Then there's the event of people drinking faster to get more pints down followed by social drinking in the streets outside - since this decision I've never seen more drunk people of an evening outside New Year's Eve.
It's stretching it somewhat to describe many of these as 'near parks', whatever that means. I visited People's Park Tavern just before Lockdown II - This Time It's Personal and if this is what constitutes drinking by a park then bring on Lockdown III - A No Hope.
A good decision for once and one that should be made permanent and nationwide. I can't abide drinking on trains - I once endured a two-hour trip with a young women seated across the isle from me. She kept on knocking back cans of Superbrew - or some other form of electric soup - to the point where she made repeated trips to the loo (next to us) to throw up before returning to slurping from her cans to prepare for her next honk. And she had her two very young children with her...
Another meaningless definition. Does a screw-top bottle count? And what about buying cans or bottles without pre-ordering from the offie, which won't remain 'sealed' for long.

But lots of people are capable of drinking a few cans on a long journey whilst remaining civilised, and surely shouldn’t be punished because of the likes of Superbrew girl. And if we’re just setting rules based purely on the behaviour of the worst delinquents, this won’t stop at banning drinking on trains anyway.
