I tend to agree with his customers here, the bar is what makes a pub feel like a pub- going straight to a table just never felt right to me. Although it was an interesting novelty for a few months.

This bloke has certainly changed his somewhat pompous tune. I remember in the summer of last year he penned an article in the Oxford Drinker along the lines of 'People have discovered what those on the Continent have known for years [that people prefer table service]'; no they don't. Now he claims 'People just don’t want table service in a pub. It does not compute. It is simply not what people want, when they want a pint. And that’s the most important thing. That’s what works best. Not the table service.'; Does not compute? What a turnaround.
