All becomes clear if you can bother reading his methodology: he uses the Google maps definition of where the station entrance is, which is not hugely realistic and ignores multiple entrances; he has an arbitrary definition of what is a 'pub' and what isn't; and the data is based on a telephone question to whoever answered the phone in the 'pub', which is not likely to be especially reliable. So virtually a complete waste of time.

Even by these criteria there are numerous mistakes, And naturally looking first at Mornington Crescent, he seems to have invented a mythical 'Beer House', rather than the Lyttelton Arms, unless such a thing has sneaked in somewhere.
On leaving the bar, I felt a strong blow to the back of my head. Turning round, I discovered it was the pavement

Interesting clip on why so many millennials seem to avoid pubs, and the impact that may be having on the development of their social skills -

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-eng...o-young-people

An odd comment from one millennial who said she didn't go to the pub because "they were too loud". Eh? Find a quiet one then, FFS. I don't like loud pubs either.

I don't know why she's complaining. Most of the bloody noise in pubs is caused by millennials. The other night I had to change pubs because a large group in their early 20s insisted on singing along to the power ballads on the stereo, such as Take My Breath Away. And the number of times a good pub visit has been ruined by a hen party of fizzed-up squealers...

Let alone all those middle-aged middle classes braying for brexit over their roast dinners and ruining that idyllic rural gem. That's if you can hear them over the screaming kids. Most country pubs on Sunday afternoons are just awful.

line of the week, respect! Should that be followed by "bro" or some other meaninglessness? Is that a word or just a concept?

Default Brewery to take on Rose and Crown pub in Sunbridgewells (Bradford)

Nomadic Beers is to take on the Rose & Crown pub in Sunbridgewells.

    https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co....unbridgewells/

I've never heard of Nomadic Beers but this has to be good news for the Rose & Crown as I found the beer selection a bit lacking when I visited last year. This might entice me back to give it another try.

Edit: Correction - I appear to have had Agitator by Nomadic Beers at the Marble Arch in Manchester last year.

Sadly I can't take credit for the term 'fizzed-up squealers'. It came from the most recent series of Alan Partridge.

    Ahaaaa!

Indeed. The hen party is like the neutron bomb. It kills people but leaves property standing. These women are probably sponsored by Aperol.
