Unfortunately this hasn't extended to the beer quality and service in my last couple of visits, although this is now more than two years ago,I suspect much hasn't changed.

I have pointed out (the last time only 2 weeks ago) to Fullers managers /tenants that Gales -seafarer and hsb are not guest beers. On the price of beer a tenant of Fullers told me recently what he was paying for his beer and its at least 50 percent more than the managed pubs nearby.Hard to sell beer when the pub next to you is selling the same stuff a lot cheaper.

In an article I read yesterday from Fullers they said that in the last 10 years they have sold 26 pubs all free of tie and only 7 are still open. They are probably bottom end of the market but free of tie may not be the solution for every pub.

To me Fuller's, Young's and McMullen's have all lost the plot over the years. Fuller's beers are way overpriced in their own houses and even in Spoons despite the fact that they can still sell their bottles to supermarkets to sell at 4 bottles for 5 or 6 quid.

I just can't be bothered with any of them nowadays, there are so many better options.

Depends where you live, there are no other options round here, except Wetherspoon's waiting behind someone ordering coffee, breakfast, child meal etc, and then find a table not cluttered with uncleared plates, cups & glasses, I have to take my chances with Fuller's

The Butler in Reading is open and the Fisherman's Cottage will be back online soon...

Of course, selling a pub free of tie is not the same as "selling the pub to another operator free of tie who is fully committed to retaining it as a pub'. Subtle but massive difference there...

    Default Beavertown plan further expansion.

Despite their new brewery and tap room only being a short bus ride away I still haven't got round to visiting. It doesn't help that it's only open on Saturday, is all keg and is £4 a pint upwards.

Hardly worth the bus fare then, can't say I blame you, some pubs are just not worth the bother to go out of your way visiting
