I bet the poor staff at The Cow and Calf would be more than willing to give it another go.

    Default Yorkshire's booziest street?

For those who don't read Cooking Lager, the headline dragged me in although it's not really the point of the article.

I was puzzled by the expression "one of Yorkshire's booziest streets". The article starts off with saying that residents of the Fulwood ward have been found to drink more often than all but two other wards in Sheffield. Further down, giving the address of a pub as Fulwood Road, the article then casts its net outside Fulwood altogether (the Bulls Head is in Ranmoor). But the sub-editor who wrote the headline didn't have time for such niceties and just assumed that Fulwood Road is where all the boozy people live.

All but one of the pubs mentioned in the article are well outside of Fulwood, which is a vast area, but has only four pubs. The people who live there are not generally the type to go down the pub.

I don't know if that's Yorkshire's booziest street, but Upper Street is supposed to have more restaurants, bars and pubs than any other street. These are the bars/pubs:

Including the existing but closed pubs and the ones in Islington High Street, essentially just a short extension to Upper Street and you can add:

    Jubilee Arms
    Marlborough Head
    The Mitre
    The Old Parrs Head
    The Shakespeare
    Upper House

    The Angel (JD Wetherspoon)
    The Angel
    Duke of Sussex
    The Peacock Inn
    White Lion
    White Swan Tavern
    The York

Of course there are a good few pubs in the combined list I would and have swerved.

Yup. With the exception of The King's Head Theatre Pub, Upper Street itself is best swerved.
