They do seven quid roast dinners. Catering trade rule of thumb is to charge about triple the raw material cost, aiming for 60-70% GP. That's why a good bit of steak is around £15 in a decent restaurant. Given that Brake Bros or whoever have been involved before the pub microwaves it we're talking a couple of quid for the meat, veg and gravy at the most. That's hospital/school/prison quality food. Her turkey meal was really just a granded-up roast dinner involving even cheaper meat of doubtful provenance.
£1.99 from Iceland is a fair assessment.
Random is the word.
I vaguely planned to go to Sheffield 03-04Jan and booked cheapy-cheaps on megatrain. I have now changed to a Friday day-trip only.
If anyone wants to use up to 4 London-Sheffield tickets Thurs 03Jan (1x 08:55 arr 11:02, and/or 3x 09:25 arr 11:52), drop me a line and I can let you have the trainrefs or .pdf. Return options that day (19:27) currently available from megatrain at £10/£25/£40 for 1/2/or 3 pax.
