    Default New pub visits 2024

It's that time of year again. We go again...

The house move is definitely on in the next few months so could affect my visits positively or negatively!

I'll up my target to 150 this year but I'd still be happy with 2 a week (104).

    Good luck to you all

Hopefully I'll mop up all of London's heritage pubs with just 51 to go. The trouble is, about 10 are closed and CAMRA keeps adding or subtracting pubs from the list.

    Happy New Year!

Anybody already made one visit (but not me - at home watching the Hootenanny as usual)?

This years target will be 200 but I'll need to start spreading my wings a bit further on a more regular basis. I don't envisage a rapid start.

I think there will be a significant increase in my 'one-a-day-average' of 365. Well, it's a Leap Year! That apart, will try and resume my focus on unreviewed/unphotographed pubs, as well as revisiting some of my early reviews when I could be a bit over-generous in the scoring.

As I happened to be walking past one of Camra's final four Pub of the Year candidates, it seemed reasonable to pop in and try a couple of (as expected) excellent pints - it won't help my 2024 new pubs target, but a fine way to start the year.

I would be very happy to record 200 new pub visits in 2024,but January and February will be slow due to a long holiday in New Zealand.

I would like to complete the 3* CAMRA Heritage pubs in London, but boating won't massively increase the totals as I toil my way out of London north on the Grand Union but with plans to navigate two canals across the Pennines (Huddersfield Narrow and Rochdale) that may face closure in the coming years ,the further north, the more chances of new ticks.

PuG pub crawls are a good source of new ticks, maybe less so in Cambridge .but the Midlands and the North should offer more scope.

Happy hunting folks ,it should be a fun year.

Is it possible to get into a pub after midnight?

Be that as it may, I went into my earliest ever new pub at 14:20 today, the Blues Club in Gainsborough. Not that sort of Blues, sorry; though they do have live music from time to time. This is the Holy Blues, or Gainsborough Trinity's supporters club. It's in the Good Beer Guide, and now it's on Pubs Galore too.

I did six new pubs in Brighton on New Year's Day 2017, but I didn't arrive until just after 3pm that day, and it was gone 5pm by the time I got to the Cricketers, so this is definitely a new record for me.
