Never would have had you down as a punk rocker! Macc Lads are a great band, but I wasn’t sure it was appropriate to mention them in polite company! Recently reformed, I saw them at the O2 Academy in Bristol just before Christmas, having also seem then many years ago in The Bierkeller. I called in to Hectic House in Macclesfield back in the day, only to find Mutley serving behind the counter.

Saw the Pistols on one of their reunion tours a few years ago at the Brixton Academy. My mate who was driving got his car towed and we had to go to the pound somewhere in the back streets around Millwall about 1:00 in the morning.

I was really into prog rock by the time I got to uni,Caravan,Tull,Genesis,Supertramp etc and all students seemed to be playing Dark Side of the Moon,Yes and ELP but during that long hot summer of '76 I first heard the two minute bursts of The Ramones ,then the Pistols and the world changed.John Peel was an influence.

The Macc Lads were of course much later and not suitable for anyone of a nervous disposition.I'm not sure many people got their ironic take on life in Macclesfield.Extremely vulgar but with some pithy insights,a bit like Chaucer.Saw them in Brighton around 87,it certainly was boisterous.
