    Britain's finest living guitarist?

    When the Music Rags do the 100 Greatest Guitarists Ever , if voted by the Readership he rarely gets a mention , when voted by fellow Guitarists he is usually in the top 3 , which says it all to me .

    I like Richard Thompson and still have a couple of his albums on vinyl. However, I think the much missed Bert Jansch certainly gave him a run for his money. In the living world, I'd like to mention one of Wakefield's finest sons - Bill Nelson, of Be-Bop Deluxe fame. Criminally underrated, but much loved by fellow guitarists.

    Ohh, two that vie for title that I can't seperate;

    The Proclaimers at Glastonbury 2008. All the Celts were crammed into the Avalon stage (I think they were up against Kings of Leon on the Pyramid stage) and they played their heart out and took the crowd with them. It was a real party atmosphere. Every song was a singalong, and absolutely nailed.

    Prolapse at the Victoria in Dalston. It was their first live gig since 1997 and it was riotous. I had tinnitus for three days afterwards and was really concerened that I had permanently damaged my hearing. I now make sure I always have my hardcore earplugs (acquired from a My Bloody Valentine gig in 2005 where I and all others was forced to take them at the door) in my ears at all times now...

    Just an odd aside, I remember having to use a couple of filters off fags as emergency earplugs at a gig in a Southampton pub once, this one.

    Some obscure music festival held at Cox's meadow in Cheltenham I don't remember who most of the acts were, but the one I remember are The Levellers. The crowd was rampant, I nearly got trampled underfoot, but the band were so vibrant it was almost worth it!
