Visiting London yesterday, six pubs in all, three I enjoyed , three I intend never to return to, It must be the first ever trip for me to the city I've had no cask beer at all, not by choice, it wasn't available in the pubs visited four of which had handpumps on the bar. once my six pubs were ticked I had intended to go on to a pub with decent cask but being a bit under the weather decided to call it a day. This does seem to be the sign of the current times, in London at least.

Yes it's all very sad.Spent last night drinking and compiling a list of 12 London pubs for a Friday night session throughout 2022 and came up with pubs in Kew Bridge,Putney,Carshalton,Surbiton and even Reading which is stretching the definition to breaking point. However I would have a riot on my hands if poor ale houses were chosen,so the net has been cast much wider in 2022.

Interesting news to me, but is that the slow train in the listings, takes an hour from Paddington..? But freedom pass/oyster60 is valid??

On the London scene, though, yes, I was somewhat embarrassed with my choice of route when a couple of friends were down from Manchester for the match on Weds in terms of open pubs, choice, quality and price... all poor. I did steer them toward the Express Tavern for last pre-match pint (while ticketless me went home to watch on tv) and they made it, but at £6.50pp

Didn't think the Express was that pricey, I wonder what they were drinking? Or was it the sky blue shirts?
