    Only the large Tesco,s have the big range of beers and not the Tesco locals.Went in one in Sunbury last week and they had filled the shelves with the new range on Monday and by Wednesday there were only a few left.

    Salt and Marble deliveries brings some old favourites but also some new brews to try,of which the first newbie was;

    Marble -- Rapid Vienna IPA

    IMG_0056.JPG

    Pours clear with a slight floral nose but the dominant theme is great biscuit from the Vienna malt and terrific building bitterness which produces a classic IPA hit. The tin talks about Amarillo and Ekuanot hops but the promised aromas of lemon,orange,orange pith,grapefruit rounded with tropical stone fruit and hints of eucalyptus was not that evident to my untutored palate.I just enjoyed the overall experience of a balanced IPA ,easy to drink at 5.8% and sessionable if I ever find this on cask. 8/10

    Salt -- The Hexagon Project #4 Blueberry Muffin Stout

    IMG_0057.JPG

    The head was transitory but the nose was strongly blueberry.The main taste was milk chocolate plus roasty notes,background blueberry but the dryness was reflective of blueberry tartness and acidity.This totally balanced the sweetness and disguised the 10.4%,it was far too drinkable .Very clever 9/10

    Extra Special Marble

    IMG_0058.JPG

    Marble's homage to Fullers ESB,and perfectly done.The russet colour,complex malt nose with biscuit,toffee and sharp marmalade is balanced by distinct dryness producing a quaffable 5.5%.If I find a well kept ESB in a Fuller's house ,it's a great traditional strong bitter and this Marble take on this classic brew is spot on . 9/10

    Salt -- Hexagon Project #05 Supersonic Session IPA

    IMG_0059.JPG

    Poured with a thin head which quickly disappeared,the nose initially was tropical but this too was quickly lost.Talk about murk,the whole world seemed to be in suspension and the dirty brown colour was offputting.A rather thin mouthfeel,some mango,faint peach but a nasty sharp bitterness and some metalic off notes.An aroma of student flat wet carpet developed around half way down

    I have enjoyed some outstanding brews from Salt but this just didn't work for me.I wonder if something went wrong in the brewing process ? 4/10

    I'm surprised you gave it as much as 4/10! I bought a few of these Salt beers after your reviews a couple of months back, but I'm glad I only went as far as #4 on the Hexagon Project series.

    I bow to your superior knowledge of wet carpets in student flats.
