Budapest is a great city for beer - I was last there in 2017 and visited loads of good bars, although I can only recall the names of a few.

If you have good weather, head down to Jonas Craft Beer House on the banks of the Danube for interesting beers brewed on site and great views across the river. I also recall a bar called Kandello which had a really big range of Hungarian craft beers and a reasonably priced burger menu.

I'd also recommend checking out one of the city's 'ruin' bars - we really enjoyed the quirky Szimpla Kert - the converted shell of an old factory with loads of rooms to explore. Try to time your visit so that there's a decent crowd in, as we found these places worked better with a bit of an atmosphere rather than when they were relatively empty. Beer options are a bit more limited, but you should be able to find something interesting.

Didn't find any cask ale, but I believe there are/were a couple of places that specialise in it - might be worth asking around.

    Thanks for those Leigh.

Jonas is about 1km down river from our hotel.

    Anyone else been?
