Some interesting places and some excellent beers. Pleased that others also enjoyed the liquid alcoholic sticky toffee pudding in a glass. .

Already looking forward to the next one
    Yup!

Great day out and brilliant to see everyone again. Preston really delivered on the beer front. Can't wait for the next one!
Here are some more pics! (see below - I couldn't get them to load properly).

Yes. A great place for a crawl - a real pity you couldn't join us.

A total rip-off. I wouldn't get charged this in Mayfair.

I think you are being a bit generous with your "OK" there, Gill! I thought it was lazy and generic, and a complete rip off. It's bad enough charging £5.50 a pint in Lancashire, but then to charge £3 for a half - well, words fail me. They don't do that in London*, so why do they think it's OK to do that in Lancashire. Is it too late to organise a boycott?

[This should really be in the "How much?" thread.]

    * For example, the Parcel Yard at Kings Cross station - yes, it's expensive with London Pride at £5.80 and ESB at £5.90, but at least the halves are also half the price: £2.95 for the ESB last time I was there in March. The worst I've come across before is the Draughtsman on Doncaster station: the half is calculated by halving the price of a pint, rounding up to the next 10p, then adding 10p on top! So a pint at £4.10 would be £2.20 for a half. This is why I go to the Little Plough, five minutes walk from the station, if I'm changing trains in Donny: £2.80 a pint.

Hope everyone has a good time, look forward to seeing reports and photos.
    Get well soon!

I can't help much with a report, partly because I bailed at 3:30pm, catching a train to Leeds (only just!) so that I could watch Leeds Rhinos win in fairly unconvincing style. Still, a win's a win.

And also partly because when we were in the Winckley Street Ale House and people asked me where's next, I gave different replies to everyone. I went next to Niko, a new bar run by a Serbian of the same name. Pangolin had got there before me, and he showed me a pristine copy of a Camra guide to the pubs of Preston from 1992. Thanks for that.

I caught up with a larger group at Hopwoods (see above re pricing policy), and almost left without buying a drink. I went in the end for a half of lager (see photo below - I believe other snaps were taken of me actually holding the glass - history in the making).

Next I was at the Orchard bar in Preston Market, and somehow got involved in a conversation with a man who had discovered a talent, or at least a compulsion, for writing poetry in his 70s. As this was something my mother had done too, I was enthusiastic in encouraging him to go for it.

I caught up with the others in the Black Horse, where I stopped drinking Robinsons Old Tom 8.5% just long enough to take a photo of the group (also see above) before they left for wherever they were going. I was going to the Plug & Taps on my way to nearly missing my train to Leeds.
