A few pubs around Borough on Saturday helped pad the list out a little.

    Purity Bunny Hop
    Rat White Rat
    Three Castles Mocha Mild
    Milton Justinian
    Milton Sparta
    Bridgehouse Landlady IPA
    Trumans Swift
    Harveys Dark Mild
    Harveys Old Ale
    Siren Suspended In Lemondrop
    Watneys Pale Ale
    Oakham Citra

Both the Harveys beers were in superb condition in The Royal Oak as you would expect, BOTW is the Old Ale,not a style of beer I normally go for.

The local Rose & Crown had a beer festival this weekend where the Landlord & Landlady drew up a list of breweries they liked and ordered a cask from each. The result was a festival where virtually all beers tried had some merit rather than obscure dross for tickers. Even so I don't recall seeing many of these before even though the brewery name is familiar.

    Good Chemistry Time Lapse 3.8%
    Marble Pint 3.9%
City Of Cambridge Hobson's Choice 4.0%
    Bad Seed Session IPA 4.0%
    Northern Monk Eternal 4.1%
    Wylam Cascade 4.1%
    Oakham Citra 4.2%
    Conwy Black Witch 4.3%
    Bristol Beer Factory Optimis 4.4%
    Kelham Island Altered Beer 4.4%
    Salopian Voodoo 4.5%
    Reunion Beardtongue 4.5%
    Brewdog Clockwork Tangerine (cans) 4.5%
    Tiny Rebel Cwtch 4.6%
    Grafton Caramel Stout 4.8%
Moncada Notting Hill Oatmeal Stout 5.0%
    Thornbridge Hacksaw 5.0%
    Enefeld London Pale 5.0%
    Pomoma Island APA 5.3%
    Five Points Brickfield Brown 5.4%
    Brewdog Punk IPA (keg) 5.4%
    ELB Imperial Stout 9.0%

I find it hard to pick just one so applying my old adage "when in doubt, go for the strongest", so it's the ELB Imperial Stout which was also well priced at £4.80. This was also a new beer for me.

    A small but interesting selection:

    Oakham Darker Days*
    Woodfordes Nelsons*
    Brancaster Best
    Adnams Ghost Ship*
    Wildcraft Wide Awake Coffee IPA
    Oakham Bishops Farewell*

BOTW by a stretch was Oakham Darker Days. A 4.8% dark beer which perfectly balances, for me at least, malt and hops leading it to pass the three pint test with ease. Spot on for the chillier weather.

We also had Pole Dancer in Hastings and Kent last week, so this is also my BOTW. Old Dairy Fuggle Bitter was a close second.
