    Default Battle Of Trafalgar

    Hi all,
On my recent crawl around Brighton I called in the Battle Of Trafalgar and noticed that there are plans to gut the place and turn it into a sports bar. This would be a shame as it is a great little local pub.
There is a petition running if anybody wants to have a look.

    Cheers,
    Del.

Sorry to hear this. I missed this one when in Brighton last year, but concur that this is an area of local pubs for local people. Who needs another sports bar?

I certainly enjoyed my last visit there, which - slightly alarmingly, in a "doesn't time fly" kind of way - turns out to be over ten years ago, so I've signed.

Who needs any sports bars? They are a modern abomination.

They serve their purpose by keeping the chavs out of the good pubs.

Enterprise Inns have tried to do the same with the heritage Unicorn in Manchester and have done the same to the Rummer Tavern in Cardiff. The business model is now to renovate all of their town centre pubs into their cheap nasty chain of Craft Union bars once the existing lease runs out.

    Yup.
I had 90 minutes to kill after the crawl before getting my train and found this. Beer selection aside, it was almost certainly the best pub of the day.

It's not just sport, it's any TV activity - modern screens are so artificially bright that they are nothing more than an awful flashing distraction. The old CRT sets had better picture quality too.

Just had the message below saying that the pub has been saved and will stay as it is for the next 5 years.

Thank you all for your support, I’m really pleased to announce that The Battle of Trafalgar is safe for the next five years and will remain in its current form which we love.
The wonderful staff, Mel, Pete and the rest of the bar staff and kitchen staff will all be there to offer their warm welcome and thanks to their loyal customers.
Thank you so much to everyone who signed and shared the on line petition and signed the paper one in our pub, the response was amazing and it was shared worldwide. We all made a difference and a huge thank you to Mel and Pete for all their hard work to keep our pub as a friendly, traditional pub ❤️❤️❤️
