Big disappointment. The archive that houses Boddington's brewing records in Manchester is closed until at least September.

Tricking the family into visiting Liverpool now seems pointless. Hang on, though. There must be other brewery archives in the the Northwest. Or a friendly brewer who doesn't mind me taking a few snaps.

Any suggestions?

Tuesday or Wednesday next week, it would be.

Hang on. What about a competition?

Best brewery archive suggestion in Liverpool or Manchester, that's open on those days, wins a book. (Yes, just one of my crappy self-published things.) A shiny book. Just for finding me some brewers logs.

Lees or Hydes. I'd love to see their records. Robinsons and Holts, too. No chance of any of those, sadly.

Getting an idea of how beer was brewed in Manchester or Liverpool. Am I sad finding that so exciting? (No, don't answer that question. Got a feeling the answer might not be 100% what I would want to hear.)

You point me at some brewing records, I bung you a book. From the many wonderful titles in my bookstore.
