No, no, no!!! It was a team effort, with splinter groups going off in all directions and ending up in the wrong Wheatsheaf on purpose. You're just trying to wind me up, aren't you?

And not forgetting Oggwyn, to whose health we drank in the Nags Head. Hope to see you again soon, Oggy.

    Default Some photos

Two shots of the backs of people's heads in the Nags Head, and two at the Loggerheads, one inside and one in the rain. (I wasn't going to hang around out there waiting for everyone else, so that's the nearest we got to a group photo.)

I checked the PUG crawl history today and apparently next year is the 10th anniversary of the PUG crawls so assuming the South, North and Midland pattern is maintained it should by rights be Brum next Autumn. My only problem with this is that it will bypass all the pointless PUG geography issues!

I was amused to learn that a new turn of phrase has been invented and that's an Aqualung mile. Roughly speaking, a five minute walk is an Aqualung mile although hills or even worse steps could vary this.

A very enjoyable day, despite the occasional bit of weather, and good to see everybody of course. Of particular note is that, despite going for local ales for preference, I managed to have a different brew in every pub (15), so quite happy with Shrewsbury. Shame I couldn't stay for the last couple but, with the assistance of a handy bus, I made my train with sufficient time to pop in one opposite the station!

On leaving the bar, I felt a strong blow to the back of my head. Turning round, I discovered it was the pavement

There is no "South, North and Midland pattern", except that there is one crawl in each geographical area each year. There is nothing to prevent Birmingham being in the spring of 2020.

Nothing to prevent discussions of geography either!

I have added a spreadsheet to the thread which lists all the Pubs Galore crawls. I hope this will be useful when the next discussion begins.

Although there is a neat symmetry going back to Birmingham close to the 10 year anniversary in the autumn of 2020.

I would prefer to keep the North in the summer simply because during hot weather it's usually cooler in the North, although not guaranteed!
As BF points out the anniversary is in the Autumn.
