Newark is much easier for me but I chose Shrewsbury for better options.
Thanks, not had time to study all options yet, sounds a bit more realistic.

I assume you were looking at Newark via London. If that had won the poll I was looking at staying in Nottingham rather than the considerably cheaper day out.
The biggest problem with Shrewsbury is that some of the good pubs are a long way from the centre.

We now need a poll or representations for a date. Any volunteers? November suits me best. We also need a route which may prove tricky!

...and yet you voted for Shrewsbury anyway! No doubt you had your reasons. What was the decider for you? Perhaps you thought you had a better chance of becoming prime minister if Shrewsbury was the choice. Oh, hang about, not everything is about Brexit, is it.

Try yr Amwythig or even Pengwern.

...or see this Wikipedia article which suggests that the name in old English meant "fortified place in the bushes" (ooh err, missus). More pertinently, the article gives two pronunciations without saying which is preferred by townspeople or scholars. The fact that the football club goes by the name of the Shrews may or may not be relevant in this context.

How much simpler if we'd gone to Newark instead.

The one time I visited I asked that very question, and was told.. "Well there's no bloody 'O' in it, is there?"

To add to the confusion with a third way, have a listen to this BBC Radio 4 programme.
