    Northdowns-Muggy Porter:5%abv.Very dark,blackcurrants.Decent.A new brewery for me.
My BOTW-Krpan & Lemondrop from Iron Pier.

All beers this week tried in Newcastle and nearby Wylam :-

    Allendale Golden Plover 4.0%
    Three Brothers Honeysuckle Smash 4.0%
    Tyne Bank Monument 4.1%
Mad Crafty Brewer Bubblegum Blonde 4.2%
    Northern Alchemy Harambee Pasadia 4.4%
    Northern Alchemy Dert Stout 4.5%
    Burton Bridge Burton Ale 4.7%
    Five Points Railway Porter 4.8%
    Arkell's Kingsdown 5.0%
    Brewdog Punk IPA (keg) 5.4%
    Allendale Wolf 5.5%
    Big Lamp Keelman Brown 5.7%
    Vocation Breakfast Club (keg) 6.9%

Some of these beers deserve extra comment. I thought two may have been on the turn, the Allendale Golden Plover in the Boathouse at Wylam and Tyne Bank Monument int the Mile Castle JDW. The cheapest was the Arkell's Kingsdown which was fine at £1.29 in the Mile Castle and the most expensive the Vocation Breakfast Club at £6.90 for three thirds in a pint glass at the Newcastle Tap. The Honeysuckle Smash in the Boathouse tasted like mead which I'm sure can't be right for a 4% beer.
Allendale Wolf and Big Lamp Keelman Brown are very similar and obviously meant to be a reminder of what Newcastle Brown once was. Both were tried at £1.99 and £2.15 in two Newcastle JDWs but it's the Keelman Brown that wins by a nose.

Not too much action last week apart from a pleasant Sunday in Lewes which explains the prevalence of several Harveys beers.

    Flowerpots Perridge Pale
    Stamps First Class
    Isle Of Avalon Pomparies Porter
    Dark Star Hophead
    Harveys Wild Hop
    Harveys Sussex Best
    Harveys Dark Mild
    Harveys Copper Wheat
    Burning Sky Aurora
    Four Thieves (Laines) Pub Dog

BOTW is Burning Sky Aurora enjoyed in The Snowdrop Inn.

Good week much boosted by crewing from Stoke northwards:

    Dark Star Hophead
    Oakham Bishops Farewell*
    Backyard Strange Gods*
    Thornbridge Kipling*
    Blackjack Four of a Kind
    Sarah Hughes Surprise
    Titanic Iceberg*
    Titanic White Star*
    Titanic Plum Porter*
San Miguel (it was very hot)
    Hyde's Lowry*
    Redwillow Reckless
    Redwillow Headless
    Tatton Lemon Grab*
    Rat White Rat*

Plenty of contenders with the Kipling being excellent and the White Rat and Lemon Grab proving to be superb session ales. Can't get past the Titanic White Star as BOTW though. A consistent, moreish, superb example of a West Midlands beer.

    Oakham -- Helter Skelter
    York -- Otherside IPA *
Inadequate -- Citra Pale Ale *
    Thornbridge -- Kipling *
Blackjack -- Four of a Kind
    Cross Bay -- Zenith IPA
    Titanic -- Iceberg * (3PT)

BOTW by a very short head was Thornbridge Kipling in the ever reliable Holy Inadequate,a proper pub.A deceptive strong golden south pacific pale ale.
