"Good people drink good beer" Hunter S Thompson
I wouldn't claim to have visited many micropubs, but The Beer Engine, Skipton is my favourite to date. The beer has always been top notch and the usual friendly welcome was particularly warm, on our last visit, when we called just before Christmas.
'And where he supped the past lived still. And where he sipped the glass brimmed full' John Barleycorn, Carol Ann Duffy.
A quiet month, avoiding the crowds. A trip to Redcar saw a visit to the pleasant Gypsy Rover on the seafront and some excellent Vanilla Porter.
The bad news about my December pub is that it's right on the Western edge of Stourbridge but the good news is that it's only a short distance from the Batham's pub. It's a Black Country Ales outlet called the Queens Head so has been nicely refurbished and has a good choice of guest ales. It's one I will definitely be returning to.
The Mount Pleasant was a contender but ruled out because of the limited opening hours.

My December Pub of the Month is The Monks Inn a great new micropub in the real ale desert of Hemel Hempstead
I've just joined Alcoholics Anonymous - I still drink, just under a different name.
My pub of the month for December:The Chequers Inn , a classic Sheps long held pub, last visited by me in around 1971 or 72.Hadn't changed too much!
