Blimey! That's a first and given my Luddite techniques I think that is unlikely. I can think of at least 4 forum contributors that haven't yet posted and I would be delighted if they did. Unlike many other lists this one has actually become a very useful one. When I suggested the idea I didn't really think that it would.

Oh all right then, here is a list. I have undoubtedly left some off that ought to be there and leave no apologies for any controversial entries, or for being boring and choosing the obvious! I do however apologise in advance for the lack of reviews for some - probably too pissed to write anything down. I suppose I shall just have to endure the hardship of revisiting...

    Black Lion, Consall Forge
    Blue Anchor, Helston
    Bridge, Topsham
    Brunswick, Derby
    Hope, Carshalton
    Nags Head, Reading
    Post Office Vaults, Birmingham
    Surrey Oaks, Parkgate
    Vine/B&B, Brierley Hill
    Wenlock Arms, London
On leaving the bar, I felt a strong blow to the back of my head. Turning round, I discovered it was the pavement

It seems like we all need a 'ones that would have made top10 on another day' thread, top25, where would it end?
We can be sure there are some stellar pubs being mentioned here, individually, and collectively.

Well quite. Prompted by the lists above I contrived an excuse for an inaugural visit to the Bull and Bladder the other day ... the presence of a retail mecca nearby helps...

But what to leave out from my original ten?

Yes indeed. Though I have more likelihood of reaching the Organ Grinder in Loughborough than the Square & Compass in Worth Matravers, to name just two that have so far eluded me in the top-how-ever-many. But I tend to think that, like my favourite 1970s bands or albums, the pubs I like best are the ones I "discovered" for myself.

I'd better throw my hat in the ring then. A (mainly) local-flavoured assortment from me:

    Bell, Aldworth
    Globe, Dunstable
    White Horse, Hedgerley
Land of Liberty, Peace & Plenty, Heronsgate
    Kings Arms, Kidlington
    Gardeners Arms (Jericho), Oxford
    Masons Arms, Oxford
    Harrow Inn, Steep
    Cross Keys, Thame
    Alfred, Upper Hale
