    Default Name Change in Hepworth

The Shoulder Of Mutton is now The Hepworth Inn. https://www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/...fending-vegans, as reported by Wittenden in Random News Of The Day.

    Heworth even, done, thanks.

Old Mudgie thought the name should be the "Intolerant Sanctimonious Twat"

He seems a little intolerant himself!

There's no evidence that vegetarians or vegans are avoiding places with names like this - I went in The Ribs Of Beef in Norwich earlier this year, and the Shoulder Of Mutton on the edge of Sheffield last December with no apparent problem, and I've been vegetarian for 36 years.

Having read the article, it seems that the owners have identified a possible inconsistency between their proposed emphasis on vegetarian and vegan food and the name of the pub. In fact, they might well be worried about being laughed at, detracting from the marketing of their new venture. Instead of which, they're being laughed at as "sanctimonious twats", quite unjustifiably in my opinion.
