A fairly quiet week, I made the schoolboy error yesterday of going to Wolverhampton without checking the football so ended up having a great day in Codsall Station and the Albrighton Platform micro. It also had the plus point of virtually no walking. The faggots with chips and mushy peas in the Codsall Station were fantastic and good value at £7.50.

Fixed Wheel Through & Off 3.8%
    Holden's Black Country Bitter 3.9%
    Ludlow Blonde 4.0%
    Mallinson Tropical Blonde 4.3%
    Fixed Wheel Century Gold 4.8%
    Fixed Wheel Summer Smiles 4.8%
    Salopian Golden Thread 5.0%
    Millstone True Grit 5.0%
    Holden's Special 5.1%
    Small World Thunderbridge Stout 5.2%
    Kelham Island Pale Rider 5.2%
Fixed Wheel No Brakes IPA 5.9%

The winner is Fixed Wheel Summer Smiles. It's described as an American Wheat but is probably a hybrid as it wasn't cloudy. I'm not a big fan of wheat beers but this one had a great hoppy flavour. It was £3.30 (discounted) at the Albrighton micro. It bought a smile to my face but it was probably more an inane grin or a grimace.

BOTW Beeston Brewery Magnificent Men Described on the bottle as Strong Amber Ale which at 7.2% is absolutely true. Went superbly with cheese.

Not a big week for me, but all of the below are new to me.

Berliner Heist (The London Beer Factory)
    Mai Tai (Ossett Brewery)
    Love & Hate (Vocation Brewery)
    Perlenbacher Weissbier (Lidl)
    Breakfast Club (Vocation Brewery)
    Clockwork Tangerine (BrewDog)
Bitter Iron IPA (Hatherwood Craft Beer Company / Lidl)

Only one of the above was from a pub visit (the Mai Tai), the rest had at home as a result of various recent supermarket purchases.

For me, BOTW would be the Love & Hate by Vocation, with the Breakfast Club coming a close second, followed by the Mai Tai. The Love & Hate is a 7.2% New England IPA; I found it to be rather tropical and very enjoyable. Purchased in a 440ml can from Tesco, if anyone is interested.
