Embarrassed to report just one pub visit here, two beers consumed being McMullens Country Bitter and by default BOTW McMullens Rivertown Brewing Atlas, which did at least have some hop character unusually for a Macs brew.

Next week mechanical failure means an extended stay in that mecca of real ale AKA Bedford,so some scratching around for decent pints.

BOTW Purity Lawless. Cold and refreshing for the hot weather. A tasty lager - whatever next?

Quiet,Kent:by default my BOTW is Brumaison-Single Hop Pale-Bullion. Understated at 4.5%abv. Interestingly, this brewery is producing Beulter Best Bitter.I should think that only RPAdam and this scribe will be the only ones on this site to get the pun,(I didn't think they called it that in Marden!). Not holding out great hopes for this one.

A short stay in Derby :-

    Theakston Best 3.8%
    Blue Bee Cascade Pale 3.9%
    Westgate Classic Blonde 3.9%
    St Austell Tribute 4.0%
    Everards Tropical IPA 4.3%
    Dancing Duck DCUK 4.3%
    St Austell Proper Job 4.5%
    Marston's Pedigree 4.5%
    Brunswick Rocket 4.7%
    Falstaff Phoenix 4.7%
    Titanic Avalon 4.8%
    Thornbridge Pollards 5.0%
    Adnams / JDW Anti-Hipstermin 5.0%
Severn Brewing Extra Special Bitter 5.2%
    Nottingham Supreme 5.2%
    Lymestone Stone The Crows 5.4%
    Totally Brewed Captain Hopbeard 5.5%
    Thornbridge Jaipur IPA 5.9%
    Oakham Blue Skies IPA 6.0%
    Thornbridge Rattlesnake 6.5%

The hot weather continues to cause havoc. In some cases the beer was OK but too warm. The winner is the Thornbridge Rattlesnake. It's not got the floral hops of Jaipur but does have others by the bucket load. It's as quaffable as any 4.5% beer. That and the Jaipur were £3.00 in Belper's superb Angels micropub.

I'm sure you're not alone, but I've had some really good beers by not drinking with my eyes., However I'm also sure sours are are an acquired taste, like Marmite which I hate.
