"At that moment I would have given a kingdom, not for champagne or hock and soda, or hot coffee but for a glass of beer" Marquess Curzon of Kedlestone, Viceroy of India.
Old link deleted and new one added. Thanks. Your post transported me back to the late seventies. A group of us was having a stab at the Three Peaks and we'd done Pen-y-ghent and Whernside before stopping in the OHI, for a supposed quick one. Several pints later, luxuriating in the cosy warmth, any pretence at tackling Ingleborough was abandoned!
'And where he supped the past lived still. And where he sipped the glass brimmed full' John Barleycorn, Carol Ann Duffy.
Thanks! Enjoyed a couple of pints before attempting Ingleborough a few years back.We thought we'd been terribly athletic, only to be met by a group of school kids who went up the back route. Boak and Bailey had a video from the 70s about some folk related jolly at the pub.
