A pub is for life not just for Christmas
No boating due to ice,and only one pub trip .
BOTW goes to Thornbridge Crackendale on top form in The Old Cross Tavern.A single hop citra pale ale ,delicious and dangerous at 5.2%.
Next week boating in Oxfordshire once conditions allow.
"Good people drink good beer" Hunter S Thompson
Gentle week:
Hop Back Haka
Oakham Bishops Farewell*
Blue Monkey Tie a Yellow Gibbon*
BOTW Blue Monkey Tie a Yellow Gibbon. Great name, great traditional pale ale starting round and fruity and finishing delightfully bitter. Blue Monkey just don't brew bad beer and at 4.3% this one flew through the three pint test.
"Beer is food." Morse, Colin Dexter
Another decent week for me.

Nethergate - Umbel Magna.
Abbeydale - Unbeliever. (Keg)
Acorn - Black Oak.
M&B - Brew XI.
Vocation - Life & Death.*
Ossett - Treacle Stout.*

Five Towns - What in the World.
Riverhead - Happy Valley.
Fernandes - Double Three.*
Several in that list capable of winning on a quiet week, but the Life & Death, a hoppy, fruity delight of an IPA won by a nose. Sampled in The Hop, Wakefield.
'And where he supped the past lived still. And where he sipped the glass brimmed full' John Barleycorn, Carol Ann Duffy.
A run of the mill sort of week.
Purity Pure Gold
Adnams Mosaic
Youngs Bitter
Sambrooks Wandle
Beavertown Neck Oil
Harveys IPA
Shepherd Neame Masterbrew
Botw is Adnams Mosaic taken in The Ship.
Not much doing this week either I suspect .

Goacher's Special House Ale 3.8% abv
Harveys Sussex Best Bitter 4% abv
Both fine, but too cold:the Beast from the East must have got into the beer store and dialled down the flavour.
My future son-in-law gave me a couple of cans of Gun Brewery-Zamzama IPA 6.5% abv. (The training must be taking effect.)Not necessarily a beer in my comfort zone, but my BOTW.

from the wood, at the brewery, served by the head brewer and his wife. Not sober when I left either.
Riverhead Happy Valley. An easy drinking 4% session ale made with various American Hops.
In The Baum of course.
