    Some quality beer this week.
    Hopback GFB
    Hopback Summer Lightening
    Castle Rock Harvest Pale
    Tap Social Goodsize Eh
    Hook Norton Double Stout
    Siren Undercurrent
    Siren Cold Blooded
    St Austel Tribute
    Samuel Smiths Extra Stout
    Camerons Strongarm
    Animal Vulture

Some really top quality beers taken in Oxford Saturday but Hopback Summer Lightening this afternoon in The Waggon And Horses has just passed the seven pint test, so is comfortably beer of the week.

Not a bad week for me, with a couple of decent sessions. Plenty of volume and variety!

    Exit 33 - Oat Stout.
    Mallinsons - New World Pale.
    2 Roses - Black Beauty.
    Vocation - Heart & Soul.*
    Vocation - Pride & Joy.*
    Acorn - Old Moor Porter.
    2 Roses - Sprocket.
    Purity - Mad Goose.*
    Ringwood - Boondoggle.
    North Riding - Mosaic Pale.*
    Hop Back - Summer Lightning.
    Dukeries - Elsi.
Jolly Boys - Jolly Collier (Rhubarb) Porter.
North Riding - Coffee Bean Mild.*
Revolutions - Switch #7 (Cascade, Chinook & Kazbek).

If BOTW was based purely on volume, then the Mad Goose would be the undoubted winner. However, the two North Riding beers were both on stunning form, with the Mosaic just shading it.

    Bit of variety:

    Bec Jaune Luminary IPA*
    Bec Jaune Cereal Killer Porter*
    Brewdog Elvis Juice (keg)*
    Mutzig Old Lager*
    Oakham Bishops Farewell*
    Salopian Darwin's Origin*

All very good and the Luminary IPA seemed to improve with the drinking easing through the three pint test.

BOTW Bec Jaune Cereal Killer Porter. A rich, flavoursome porter with the ideal bitter finish and nicely at home in the chilly French Alps.

Mmm, interesting. FWIW, I'm one of the dissenters. I don't think it's the beer it used to be. However, forever the optimist, I'll always try it if it's on the pumps.

I don't often get to try it here, though I welcome it when I see it.Last taken at what is probably my favouritest pub in the whole wide world:The Cover Bridge Inn
