    Old School, East Sussex

    Old Dairy-Red Top 3.8% abv.Peppery farmyard bitter.My BOTW
Harvey's-Sussex Best Bitter 4% abv.Almost unimpeacheable:a touch of the cardboard of yesteryear.
Both beers are often overlooked in favour of something more exciting, but they always please. Both taken at The Salehurst Halt ,where the 3rd. beer was Dark Star's Creme Brulee, which didn't appeal.

    Harlow and Banbury.

    Mc Mullens -- Country Bitter
    Mc Mullens -- Rivertown Brewing 3.2 *
    Hook Norton -- Hooky Gold
    Peerless -- Lottie Dod
    Derby -- Dashingly Dark *
Revolutions -- Swoon Chocolate Fudge Milk Stout *
    Ghost -- Sylvanas *
    North Cotswold -- Hung,Drawn and Portered *
    Salopian -- Shropshire Gold
    Skinners -- Betty Stogs

BOTW goes to Revolutions Swoon Chocolate Fudge Milk Stout ,not as weird as it sounds and a very impressive Milk Stout served in peak condition in The Bailiff's Tap.

Special mention to Mc Mullens and their experimental marque Rivertown Brewing for producing a flavoursome 3.2 %,with a faint but then lingering citrus hit, very clever .

Next week looks like a potential nul pints.

The above is a picture of the clip for one of this weeks beers. It was a dark bitter.

    Whitby Abbey Blonde 3.8%
    Jennings Cumberland Ale 4.0%
    Marston's Wainwright 4.1%
    Robinsons Overhang 4.1%
    Kelham Island Aviator 4.1%
Republic Of Liverpool London Greed 4.2%
    Whitby Smugglers Gold 4.2%
    Mallinsons Rasinook 4.2%
    Peerless Lottie Dod 4.2%
    Neepsend Raki 4.3%
    Potbelly Beijing Black 4.4%
Vale Of Glamorgan Speak Easy 4.6%
    4Ts Mango Fever 4.6%
    Big Bog Swampy 4.7%
    Wold Top Wold Gold 4.8%
    Goddard's Fuggle Dee Dum 4.8%
    Lords Bandon Car Porter 4.8%
Hop Studio Fire and Ice 5.0%
    Turning Point Lucid Dream 5.0%
    Gadds Number 3 5.0%
    Coach House Blueberry 5.0%
    Moorhouse Pendle Witches Brew 5.1%
Turning Point Disco King American Pale Ale 5.1%
    Tiny Rebel Stay Puft 5.2%
    Brewsmith IPA 6.0%

I'm going for the Tiny Rebel Stay Puft as tried for the outrageous price of £4.60 in the York Tap. It's described as a Marshmallow Porter but tasted great although it's probably too sweet and heavy for 3 of them.

A small but well formed list:

    Salopian Golden Thread*
    Oakham Bishops Farewell*
    Hart No. 3*
    Phipps NBC Gold Star*

The No. 3 was dark, fruity and went down well on a chilly day but BOTW was Phipps NBC Gold Star.
A pre-WWI export recipe apparently which makes for a fine, traditional, 5,2% IPA. The malt is there initially but there's more than enough hops to give a long bitter finish and make a second, and third, almost impossible to resist.

    Reasonable week for me.

    North Riding - Citra Pale.*
    Don Valley - Winter.
    Gun - Extra Pale.
North Riding - Chocolate Brownie Stout.
Five Towns - One at T'End.*
    Tigertops - Hoppuction.
    Fullers - Olivers Island.
    Rat - Sneaky Rat.*
    Fullers - Old Winter Ale.
    Fernandes - Sunshine IPA.
    Fernandes - Jackdaw Mild.

The Sunshine IPA, living up to its name, was the easy winner this week. Very drinkable for 5.5% and passing the three pint test with ease.
