    Default Database error?

    One for Dave, I think.

I have tried several times to add a Facebook link for this pub in Huddersfield, but I'm just getting this error message: Your attempt to view this page has failed due to a fault on our data base. You can either go back and try again, or revisit our site at a later time when the problem will have been resolved. *cough*

I have been able to add a Facebook link to another pub nearby so it doesn't appear to be a general fault, nor does there seem to be a problem with the link itself: https://www.facebook.com/railway.berrybrow

    Help!

There's nothing on the Facebook page really, so maybe it's an issue with the link itself as they're not using it either?
A pub is for life not just for Christmas

Karaoke on Sunday 28th January. Wouldn't want to miss that!

Absolutely! Some people are very fond of karaoke.

ROBCamra is right though that it it a Facebook related issue but didn't quite spot why. It is a Facebook Profile (so meant to be an actual person) rather than a Facebook Page (for businesses), my code tries to pick up all the things that are supposed to be on a Facebook Page, none of them are there and it fails miserably.

I'm not very good at writing error checking code, had it been done by Conrad there'd be a nice message telling you that rather than just a horrible error. To be fair though the error that I get from Facebook is "Tried accessing nonexisting field (name) on node type (URL)", not entirely helpful either.

Believe it or not I have been known to resolve errors that have given that message but didn't get reported. But yes, many sites have similar messages and it is probably safe to assume no-one will ever look into it unless it is a major problem.

Thanks for the speedy response. I apologise for the cough.

Another error message of the same type, but the explanation you gave doesn't appear to apply. Perhaps you could have a look?

Thanks, this one was completely different.

Since the start of this thread the whole Cambridge Analytica thing has happened and Facebook have very much restricted what they allow developers to do. Trouble is most of the changes have been unannounced so things suddenly stop working that were ok before.

So to fix this I've had to make the 3rd modification in two months. I expect it will go wrong again.

Thanks for the speedy response. Hope your prediction is not accurate.
