It has to be The Surrey Oaks, a very nice pub indeed.

    The Duke's Head

On a wander around Highgate ,I could have stayed a lot longer at this particular pub.Sister pub to the impressive Prince,Wood Green.

This is a repeat for me but I don't care, it's the Neuadd Arms Hotel/ in Llanwrtyd Wells. I stayed there this time and thought it could do with a thorough renovation but that would probably cost millions as it is an old building. However, it was cheap with similar prices to advance booking at a Premier Inn or Travelodge but breakfast included.
On the Friday night in the public bar a couple of the locals were getting a bit raucous but I've seen it all before and it was no worse than watching the Jeremy Kyle show. Of course the big attraction is the old school Heart Of Wales beers that as far as I know are only available here and at the odd CAMRA festival. They are various styles and strengths but the strong ale Inn Stable was my favourite.
    I'll be back next year!

A very thin month, but my one new visit was to Butchers Arms , the original micropub. Brief but very enjoyable.

I had a similar experience.Having discovered real ale in my first year at Birmingham University,I heard that this pub, formerly known as The Whittington Inn had Owd Roger on during the winter.Having persuaded a friend to drive a bunch of us over there in his A40,on arrival the landlady said she only served it in halves,so we all ordered two halves (apart from the driver !) which took her a while to fetch from the cellar. Two pints later we headed off to Stourbridge and Lye for more of a crawl, but with those two pints acting as a poor base, the inevitable occurred on the car journey back while speeding around the large roundabout at Five Ways.

That taught me a valuable lesson.

Some Camra-regarded corkers visited in January, including:

    The Salutation, Ham
    The Cricketers Arms, St Helens
    The Baum, Rochdale
The Old Oak Inn, Horsley Woodhouse

Difficult to pick a winner between four excellent examples of pubdom, but the Salutation just shades it with its homely and welcoming atmosphere. Visited on New Year's Day, it was a great start to the year and hopefully heralds another exciting year of pub-going:
