A fairly modest week for me, not helped by a shocking choice of cask in the Wanstead George.

    Holden's Black Country Mild 3.7%
    Holden's Black Country Bitter 3.8%
    Salcombe Devon Amber 3.8%
    Green Duck Duck Blonde 4.2%
    Kinver Land Army 4.3%
    Corvedale Pax Ale 4.5%
    Rowton Total Eclipse 4.8%
    Otter Pale Ale 4.9%
    Hanlons Stormstay 5.0%
    Teignworthy Climate Change 5.0%
    Holden's Special 5.1%
    Rowton Area 51 5.1%
    Otter Head 5.8%
    New Brew New India 6.0%
    Exe Valley Winter Glow 6.0%

Nothing really outstanding there but the Holden's Special at the Codsall Station was superb. I can't understand why they dropped it from the 2018 GBG yet left in that stupid Firs Club.

Disappointed to miss out on Stockport, but a last minute trip to Otley, on Saturday, offered some consolation. Quite a few new beers tried.

North Riding - US Session IPA v25.*
Chin Chin - Alone in the Dark.
    Horbury - JFB Mosaic.
    Fraoch - Heather Ale.
    Wantsum - Black Prince.*
Rudgate - Brew 37 Maple Rye.
    Red Willow - Heartless.
    Wishbone - Waitomo.
    Stancill - Secret Potion.
    Saltaire - Hazelnut Coffee Porter.
    Saltaire - Stout No5.
    Marble - Pint.*
    Briscoes - Otley Gold.
Wild Weather - Beyond the Pale.*
    Naylors - Black & Tan.
    Hill Top - IPA.

Mild is a much maligned style, but when it's done well it's very good indeed. I thought the Black Prince had a lovely richness for a 3.9% beer. Sampled in one of my favourite pubs, The Old Cock, Otley.

A trip to York enhanced the week significantly:

    Bad Seed Sobremesa*
    TT Landlord*
    Brew York American Pale Ale
Brew York Imperial Tonkoko Stout (keg)*
    Howling Hops XX
    Vocation Life and Death*
    Abbeydale Methuselah
    Bad Seed IPA
    Thornbridge Highcliffe*
    Deya Sunglasses Indoors (keg)*
    Brew York Thors Thunder
    Sonnet 43 Athenaeum
    Saltaire Blackberry Cascade*
    Bad Seed Melissa's Wit
    Wild Beer Rooting Around*
    Oakham Bishops Farewell*

Some lovely beers there all of which proved yet again what a great City York is for a drop.
BOTW Brew York Imperial Tonkoko Stout (keg). Dark, rich, strong and gently coconutty. A warm velvet blanket of a drink on a chilly evening.

Squawk - Oat Pale in Remedy

The Plum Porter Grand Reserve a very close second
