I can,t think why he chose the 1990 edition if he started his crawl in 2005, i bet quite a few of them had shut down.
Fair play to the lad though.

Fantastic story, now if we can just get his 700 reviews.
17,000 pubs in 26 years, thats averaging close to two a day which is quite impressive...
Must have an impressive back catalogue. Conrad should sign him up.

Yeah, this whole story is very confusing. I get the impression he started doing GBG pubs in 1984 with that years version of the guide.
He didn't finish the 1984 guide until 2005 and then made a start on the 700 new pubs that appeared in the 1990 guide. Although back in 2005 he was saying he might start on the 1987 guide.
I spotted this in the paper yesterday. It's the sort of stupid thing I would do. Now, where's my current Yellow Pages.
Currently working on GBG 2002.. Done 120 pubs plus around 50 pubs either closed or changed pub's name.
At last count since 1995 I have visited over 1,500 pubs around the UK. Sampled beer in every county except Cumbria.
Done 57 Tamworth pubs in single day for charity using only public transport and walking.
Now currently trying to visit every football league grounds (33 out of 92) and First Class Cricket grounds.. I done 15 so far..

I think after the first three I would have lost interest in the charity bit and decided to settle for a comfortable perch. But Well Done Hoppy for having the strength of character to do it. The shandy halves would have made me feel ill, too sweet for me.
