Default Pub Of The Month - July 2017

Some serious competition this month with highlights from Leeds, Wakefield and Huddersfield and surrounding areas.

West Yorkshire remains superb for quality ale and has, if anything, improved since my last visit and The Grove, Huddersfield is as good as ever if not better.

POTM though goes to Harry's Bar, Wakefield by some distance despite the competition. Knockout!

    The Grove

You can't have two people nominating Harry's Bar,so it's got to be The Grove. From a distance the pub sign could be mistaken for a late opening convenience store .the fluorescent green is awful but the joys to behold inside make it unmissable when in Huddersfield.

Not the best beer of the month but best new pub visited was Fanny Nelson's, scored 7 but worth 7.5.

The green - a mixture of Co-op Funeral Care and one of those toxic caterpillars that can kill you from 50 paces: still, a fantastic pub tough...

Many years back while living in Leeds I had four weeks off the beer. My first pint back was my first ever Jaipur, in the Grove. Memorable...

I can't really argue with that!

I've got a few to chose from this month but I rated this micropub in Skipton the highest so it's the one.

A toss-up between the triumvirate of Middlesex / Surrey border sister pubs The Albion, Antelope and Sussex Arms, sees the even-toed ungulate come out on top. I could have happily whiled away and hour or two at either of the three, and I did like The Albion's leafy suburban avenue setting, but the fact that The Antelope was the busiest of the three and was sating an even mixture of clientele sees it come out on top.

Default A good one in the Brum suburbs

Looks like the Prince of Wales in Moseley has scooped last month's award from me.
