    Default World Cup Sweepstake

Just as a bit of fun for the World Cup, I propose doing a free to enter (and bog all to win) sweepstake among us.

Tonight (in front of a few witnesses) I will draw all 32 teams out of a hat and enter them on a sheet of paper in the order they come out. I doubt we will get 32 people to enter so I will make it 16 of us to pick 2 numbers each which does at least mean we get a better chance to pick a decent team. Once the numbers have all gone I will let you know the teams you have selected. In the interest of fairness I will take the last 2 teams left in the pot so you will effectively be choosing my teams for me (and please make them England and Brazil!).

So, please pick 2 numbers between 1 and 32 that no-one else has already picked and post them on here.

Sounds worth it for a bit of fun, so can I go first then? I'll say 8 and 15.

We've done one at work for token cash prizes, I've drawn Cameroon and South Korea.
There are a few bonus prizes such as the first team to score against Germany, most goals conceded in the group, first red card etc so I have a chance of getting my money back!

    First 2 sold!

A great group game we once did in a pub was to all stick a couple of quid in a glass and then it got passed on every time there was a goal kick, corner, free kick or throw in. When a goal was scored or it was half time / full time, whoever was holding the pot kept the winnings. It's good unless you get a 4-4 draw when it starts to get a bit expensive unless you win!

    Brazil???

My money is on the Spanish and when England exit I'll be digging out the shirt I wore for Euro 2008 as they were my adopted team.

I got Greece shirt from somewhere and I got them when I was hoildaying in Cyprus in 2007. I doubt they will progress beyond 1st round..

However I liked Ivory Coast shirt and it is quite bright and nice... so I may buy it
