Well a reasonable start to the week on Tuesday.

A couple of pints of Phoenix White Tornado followed by a pint I simply didn't like Corvedale Molly Morgan.

Then a pint of Slaters Magic Monkey Mild followed by two pints of the excellent Elland Born To Be Mild. Great name and a great beer.

Can I nominate a foreign beer?

This week I acheived a long-standing ambition and went to see the Oberammergau Passion Play. I stayed in the Hotel Maximilian in Oberammergau which not only has excellent food, it brews its own beer in the basement. So, a hotel, restaurant and brewery which also does fantastic food and has gorgeous, attentive female staff - what could be better?

So, if acceptable, my botw is Maxbrau Helles, one of the best Bavarian beers I've ever tasted, and if PuG does ever stat listing overseas pubs, Maximilian's will definitely be getting a 10/10 out of me if it keeps upt the standard.

Foreign beer is fine. Nothing against foreign pubs really, the only reason we don't set them up on the main site tomorrow is the sheer quantity of technical hurdles involved, we are gradually knocking them down during the current rewrite though.

BOTW for me this week is Salamander Insatiable , very moreish at a dangerous 5.2 % , a mention to for Kelham Island , White Falcon , a very drinkable beer named after one of my favorite guitars (£2600 for a good `en if only !!)

With 'Mild Month' drawing to a close, it seems quite appropriate that this week's BOTW is the superb Ilkley 'Black'. Had a pint of Moorhouse's 'Black Cat' to follow and the IB trounced it, that's how good it is.

Only got out once this week, and a summer cold precluded any real enjoyment of the beer, but Sheps Late Red ( a bit unseasonal perhaps) was my beer of the week.

As it is the end of May I really ought to get a mild in so I'll go with the Nethergate - Marys Ruby Mild as my BOTW.

I believe AEM is planning to opt for the Guinness he had in Wexford which just edged out the 11 others in Waterford.
