Do you know for sure that a train ticket to Wellington with plus bus will be valid on the bus to Oakengates? If so, that would be a good way of doing this section of the route.
Looks like plusbus Wellington is supported only by Arriva, perhaps they are the only local operator? The map shows the area covers Oakengates though.

With the talk of Oakengates being an almost mystical pub destination, I would lean toward more than a bare hour or so here...

ps. online purchase of plusbus down to £2 Jun+July...

The No.4 bus, Wellington to the Cock Hotel, then Cock Hotel to Oakengates (every 10 mins)
and No.7 bus, Wellington to the Cock Hotel only (every 15 mins) are both Arriva buses.

Should save half a pint and a bag of scratchings for two journeys

Arriva the only bus operator around here , apart from a few obscure routes .
£2 is a good price for the plus-bus , the Wellington - Oakengates fare probably over £3 now they have just whacked the prices up again

Almost certainly can't make this now.

Ms CAMRA had to be rushed in for an emergency eye op due to a detached retina.

Everything went fine (hopefully) but she can't do a lot for herself at the moment due to lack of vision and needs drops in every 2 hours.

    Have a good trip guys!

Hope she makes a good recovery.

I imagine you'll be giving up booze for the duration - need a steady hand for those eye-drops!

Yes all the best to Mrs C and hope for a quick recovery.

I too now have to dip out of this trip, , however every cloud has a silver lining, I'll be on holiday 10 days after so will be able to spend the money I save on some lovely cold fizzy Lager.
Have a good day out chaps and chapesses .

Very much looking forward to next Friday's crawl.

As far as I can see reading back through this thread the roll call seems to be

    Oggwyn Trench
    Quinno
    sheffield hatter
    Real Ale Ray
    Mrs Ale
    Bucking Fastard
    Alan H
    trainman

Apologies if I have missed anyone out ,are there any last minute additions ? Shame Mobyduck and ROBCamra are unable to join us.

I will be arriving in Shrewsbury at 11.19 to tick off a few pubs close to the station before catching either the 12.33 or 12.47 to Wellington,so I will catch up with the crawl in The Pheasant, assuming the route on post 151 has not changed.
