When I made this suggestion I included Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton as they are accessible. They also have Premier Inns, the Shrewsbury one is alright and close to the station. I've not stayed at the Wolverhampton one but it's on the left side of the old low level station. I think most people are aware what's on the right side! The Albrighton Platform Ale House is well worth a look. It's not open currently on a Friday afternoon but the landlady seems ambitious and I'm sure would open early if there was trade to be done. I envisaged Shifnal being optional.
Bumping this thread along, trying to move towards a consensus......
Reading back through the ideas for a Summer 2017 crawl it seems a Midland venue is acceptable and seems appropriate if we are trying to spread venues around the country.
There were the following Midland suggestions which had some support :
1. Train trip from Wellington -Wolverhampton suggested by Oggy for Friday August 11th.
2. Birmingham
3. Sheffield
I would be happy with any of these venues, and August 11th also works for me ,so is there sufficient support for option 1 given some detail of this crawl have already been worked up ?

11th is fine.
I vote for the train trip to make it a bit more unusual.
I rather like the train suggestion too, if it doesn't eat up too much drinking time - need a top logistics volunteer/timekeeper on that! I think/hope I'd be in for any August date.
Btw, how many times was Bus38 used during the London route? Sorry to miss it John.
Isn't August a bit late? We usually do the summer trip in July, though we did Rugby on 13th June 2014. Old Boots said he couldn't do any Fridays in July and now ROBCamra has said he can't do 11th August.
How about 30th June, or the 23rd? Does someone want to set up a poll?
Come On You Hatters!
There's a stopping train that leaves Shrewsbury at 47 minutes past each hour (though why I'm writing this in response to someone whose sobriquet is Trainman is beyond me). It takes 12 minutes to Wellington, then Oakengates (5 minutes), Shifnal (7 minutes), Albrighton (8 minutes), Codsall (5 minutes) and finally Wolverhampton (9 minutes). (I've left out the stops at Telford, Cosforth and Bilbrook.)
