The winner is the Redwillow Wreckless astride in the Macclesfield Redwillow Bar which seemed a much better place than my previous visit in January last year. Don't ask how I ended up in Macclesfield!

    Still in Dorset.

    Belhaven -- Bridge to Nowhere
    Palmers -- Best Bitter
    Marston's -- Bass
    Titanic -- Plum Porter
Dorset Brewing -- Chocolate Orange Porter
    Sharps -- Doom Bar

Nothing exceptional or on top condition but BOTW goes to Titanic Plum Porter in The Globe & Crown,Yeovil.

Next week should be quality all the way on the Huddersfield crawl.

    BOTW Grainstore Ten Fifty

Based on the Ruddles County recipe apparently and it's certainly reminiscent of that beer, as a traditional, amber 5% strong or best bitter, and has absolutely nothing in common with current Ruddles badged beer. Fortunately.

    Very quiet week:

    Yeovil Ales Star Gazer (4.0%)
    Fuller's London Pride (4.1%)
    Brain's Rev James (4.5%)
Blue Moon Belgian White 5.4% (bottle)

The Yeovil was the default Beer of the Week, with a few enjoyed whilst watching the Rugby Union at Chinnor's Community Pavilion with mates on Saturday. Just a tad too strong to be a session ale in my eyes, this nonetheless had a classic best bitter mouthfeel giving way to a lightly sweet aftertaste: and just £3.00 a pint to boot. As Ron Manager would have said, "Marvellous".

    Another quiet week:

    Moorhouses - Pride of Pendle
    Taylors - Landlord
    Hop Studio - Porter
    Brass Castle - Cliffhanger
Blue Monkey - 99 Red Baboons
Bad Co - Dazed & Confused
    Vocation - Divide & Conquer
    Elland - White Prussian
    Cheshire Brewhouse - Cheshire Gap
    Tiger Tops - Night Boat
    Elland - 1872 Porter
    Banks's - Sunbeam
    Theakstons - Green Hop Ale
    Theakstons - Old Peculier
    Black Sheep - Bitter

Both the 1872 and the Tigertops were aged in whisky casks for a long time but surprisingly the Tiger Tops Night Boat just has the edge

    Kent and East Sussex:

Tonbridge-Union Pale 4.7%abv-Top notch: earthy hops.
Westerham-Summer Perle 3.8%abv- Very pale. Not much condition.Stone fruit.
The Three Legs Brewing-Pale 3.7%abv- Tasty session pale ale.Quite austere in a good way. Slate roofs.
The Three Legs Brewing-English IPA 5.5%abv-.Copper coloured, full bodied, long herbal hop finish: hint of minerals. Who said Targets were a dull commodity hop?
Harveys -Sussex XXXX Old Ale -Lovely dark grown up ardent beer.

My BOTW-The Three Legs English IPA. Bought at the brewery tap, consumed at home from a freshly filled flagon.
