Harveys-Sussex Best Bitter 4%abv. Served a touch cold, but otherwise unimpeacheable.Commentators on a recent Pub Curmudgeon post (Beer snobs the lot of 'em) rubbished this beer. This was outstanding in the 70s, and is one of a handful of beers that have stood the test of time, and probably improved, and together with Hophead is one of my core beers. Speaking of which...
Dark Star-Hophead 3.8%abv.First out of a new cask, and at its best.A close call, but my BOTW.Both taken at The Globe and Rainbow

A visit to Hook Norton found their core beers to be hopelessly overpriced and rather dull compared to recent opposition.

    Hook Norton Hooky Mild 2.8%
    Hook Norton Hooky 3.5%
    Hook Norton Harvest Hop 3.5%
    Hook Norton Hooky Gold 4.1%
    Blackedge Platinum Blonde 4.4%
    Hook Norton Summer Haze 4.5%
    Hook Norton Old Hooky 4.6%
    Derby Black Magic 4.8%*
    Three Sods Leap Year 5.0%
    Tryst Raj IPA 5.5%*
    Franklin's North Shore IPA 5.5%*

It's a battle between the two IPAs both tried in the E17 Bell for £3.33 with CAMRA discount, although it took several pints to decide it!
I'm going for the more aggressively hopped Tryst Raj IPA from Scotland.

    Decent selection this week:

Wild Beer - Pogo APA* (keg)
Five Points - The Five Points IPA
    Cloudwater - DIPA v6* (keg)
Howling Hops - Pale XX No2*
Howling Hops - West Coast Special IPA*
    Siren - Soundwave
    Salopian - Oracle
    Oakham - Citra*
Ebeltoft - Straight Outta Boston IPA (keg)
    Salopian - Hop Twister
    Dark Star - APA*
    Siren - Undercurrent*
    Oakham - Bishops Farewell*
    Titanic - Iceberg*
    Everards - Old Original*

BOTW Cloudwater - DIPA v6 (keg). Having now tried a few decent and well known keg beers, I've firmly concluded that I prefer cask beer. Nonetheless, the DIPA was excellent - all tropical fruit and incredibly easy to drink at 9%. What would it be like on cask?
