Not a great selection this weekend, but Titanic-Iceberg in the Sun Inn Stafford narrowly edges Oakham-Citra in Tamworth's Market Vaults.

    Small list this week
    Dark Star Hophead
    Tripple fff Dazed And Confused
Tripple fff Pressed Rat And Warthog*
    Red Cat Scratch*
    Timothy Taylor Boltmaker
    Timothy Taylor Golden Best
    Arundle Sussex IPA
Sharps Doom Bar (shandy for obvious reasons)
    Cottage Red & Ruth
    Big Smoke Solaris*
    Gloucester Mosaic*

The Mosaic was the best (pushed hard by the Scratch) and last beer of the week , an after work ,unfined beauty enjoyed in the ever excellent Antelope this evening.Whats more I had a full loyalty card so it was free.

Many worthy contenders but BOTW goes to Howling Hops Double Chocolate Coffee Toffee Vanilla Milk Porter ,sounds awful but tasted wonderful with the trademark bitter porter finish, one of the very best of this style I have ever had, fresh as a daisy in the Howling Hops Tank Room,Hackney Wick.Awesome ,as they say in that part of the world.

Next week trip to Jerusalem Tavern,a pub I never leave in a particularly sober state.

Kent and fleetingly in West Yorkshire:
Canterbury Brewers-Foundry Torpedo 4.5%abv:Bit hazy, not as bitter as it was in bottle a few years ago.Raspberries.The self obsessed hipsterish barstaff with their headsets nearly forced me to walk out of The Foundry
Brown Cow-Simpson and Simpson Ledsham Sessions 3.6%abv:Pale, arboreal, earthy.Hint of sweetness. This is becoming a stalwart of our too infrequent visits to God's own county.Taken at The Chequers Inn
As I hadn't tried the Torpedo before, and inspite of the beards, my BOTW is Canterbury Brewers Torpedo. A very close run thing.

Just a Friday teatime session, this week, with nothing very exciting on the beer front.

    Fernandes - Straw weight.
    Allgates - Seven Feet.
    Fernandes - Hophead Pixie.
    Salamander - Einstein.
    Fernandes - Black Voodoo.
    York - Score.
    Fernandes - Chinook.*

    Easy winner was the Chinook.

That's just reminded me that we haven't been there for ages. The 'trouble and strife' is on leave this week, so i suspect a lazy lunch is on the cards.
