A classic of the genre. Purchased one very successful brewery in the North and one rather more middling in the South.

Brands trashed by Lion's association with indirectly funding genocide in Burma.

People stop buying said brands (me being one).

COVID happens. How much that really had to do with it I don't know - both were stocked regularly in supermarkets and appeared in beer boxes. They actually had more market exposure than most of their peers.

    Brands no longer profitable.

Dumbing-down, closure etc is what happens 95% of the time when one larger brewery swallows up a smaller one (Marston's portfolio currently excepted - though for how long if they themselves get taken over??).

The brewing operation is now 60% owned by Carlsberg, so not long...

Swan Brewery in Leominster - not one that I'm personally familiar with.

I think I vaguely remember drinking one or two of their beers in and around Leominster a few years back, but nothing particularly memorable. Ah, here we are (second page of reviews), in one of the last 'Spoons I had a drink in before starting my boycott of the chain in 2017.

Bought a couple of nines for The Pint Pot in November. The Heroes Ale went down well.

That's a shame, I recall meting the pair of them (when they were pair) at the Egham USC trialling their first brews. I was really impressed. And I enjoyed what a had the few years afterward.

Not seen them at all for about 3 years or so. Last I heard they were contract brewing a former CAMRA CBOB winner...

I had one of their beers at Salford Beer Festival in 2019 and was impressed. Not a brewery you see much of up north.

Great shame if they disappear,I really enjoyed their gold Mariana Trench 5.3% in the past in both The Harp and The Wenlock Arms, respected ale houses.
