I was just about to post this. Agree this one is a shame.

I'm surprised they won't carry on brewing even if just in smaller batches for their bar - that would mitigate some of the issues with transport costs etc by limiting distribution.

There are few breweries that I can't remember having drank them but found it hard to recall this one.My early records show I have had 10 beers from them but they must have been pretty average for me to have a blank memory .

Wow! Just read on another site that Kelham Island Brewery is to close (confirmed on their Facebook page). Apparently, the Fat Cat will remain open. How many more, I wonder?

I just found out. Unexpected to say the least.

I feel I must take some of the blame, as I have been going in the Kelham Island Tavern rather more than the Fat Cat this year.

That's only about 143 pints this year, it's not your fault.

    Ha Ha!

The true figures are 17 pints at the KIT so far this year (seven of Blue Bee Triple Hop, the rest Blue Bee American Five Hop) and only seven and a half at the Fat Cat, mostly Kelham Island Best. Last year it was 20 pints in the KIT (for the whole year! - well, from April 12th) and 47 in the Cat, 35 of them Kelham Best.

That's a real shame, they seemed to be an early player in a move towards pale and golden beers in the 90's and I will miss both Easy Rider and Pale Rider.
