A pub is for life not just for Christmas
The Globe and Rainbow Many might deride this as yet another gastropub, which it is,but it is also the sole pub in a remote village on the Kent Sussex borders, and seem s to have a strong local custom. We enjoyed a decent lunchtime one May Saturday-Hophead and Harveys, decent grub.
"At that moment I would have given a kingdom, not for champagne or hock and soda, or hot coffee but for a glass of beer" Marquess Curzon of Kedlestone, Viceroy of India.
"Do I know where hell is? hell is in hello"
Enjoyed the Stratford Alehouse and The Firefly.
POTM King Charles II in Worcester. Comfortable, atmospheric and good beer.
The Plough
Every time I visit Worcester I pop in here and I am never disappointed.Always an interesting ale selection, traditional interior and very pubby ,the evening of my visit coincided with live music, which sometimes gives me cause for concern. The locals assured us that this solo artist was good and that was an understatement, his blues session was fantastic. There are lots of great pubs in Worcester and this one is up with the best.
"Good people drink good beer" Hunter S Thompson
Nothing new that was outstanding and I could give the prize to several regular favorites, but a return to a basic but still good boozer despite a change of management was a worthy visit despite Tris C's predictable misgivings, no special beer, not hip in any way but a good honest boozer, The Prince Arthur POTM.
"Everybody's got to believe in something. I believe I'll have another beer."
