    Kent:
    Musket-Flintlock 4.2%abv.Orange marzipan, a saloon bar stalwart.Prime.
    Dark Star-Hophead 3.8%abv. Zesty.

Both equally good, though the Hophead doesn't really need any extra kudos. MY BOTW is Musket's Flintlock, a good example of that unfashionable style, Best Bitter.

Slim pickings this week.Went to a christening then a ex-servicemans club for a drink
youngs -bitter filthy condition and tastless
    youngs -light ale bottled dull
Guinness-original stout bottled -tasted like a porter bit sweet
original stout and light ale mixed now we are cooking (4 pints) but hardly Botw material.
snuck out to the Beer Boutique off licence across the road (you can drink i
Buxton -Axe Edge a highly acclaimed beer and rightly so BOTW

Black Country, Herne Bay, Berkshire and my local JDW!

    Holden's Black Country Mild 3.7%*
    Shepherd Neame Master Brew 3.8%
    Holden's Black Country Bitter 3.8%*
    Wye Valley HPA 4.0%
    Adnam's Mosaic 4.1%
    Loddon Hullabaloo 4.2%
    Loddon Reading Dark 4.2%*
    Adnam's Jester 4.3%
    Loddon's Ferryman's Gold 4.4%
    Long Man Sussex Pride 4.5%
    Redemption Urban Dusk 4.6%
    Old Dairy Blue Top 4.8%*
    Sadler's Hop Bomb 5.0%*
    Rockin' Robin Rock Lobster 5.0%*
    Rudgate Volsung 5.0%*
    Caledonian Ithaca Nut Brown 5.0%
    Urban Huntsman Amarillo IPA 5.0%*
    Hanlon's Stormstay 5.0%
Bingham Total Eclipse Black IPA 5.0%*
    Holden's Special 5.1%*
    Fixed Wheel Concussion Mild 5.5%*
Loch Lomond Brave Hop IPA 6.0%*
    Five Towns Nowt 6.7%*
Five Towns The Secret Life Of Arabica 8.0%*

Several of the starred ones were worthy winners but having given some lightweight low ABV beers the vote recently it has to be Five Towns The Secret Life Of Arabica as tried in the Reading Nags Head at £4.80 a pint. It's a lower ABV (honestly!) Imperial Stout that was black as Hell and dangerously drinkable. Only the price tag, the fact that the pub was filling up and I had other fish to fry stopped me staying for a second.

Very decent week with some top ale from Evesham,Worcester and the Euston Tap.

Cannon Royall -- Evesham Choice (3PT)
    Cannon Royall -- Paddington
    Craddocks -- Troll
    Craddocks -- Crazy Sheep *
    Beowulf -- Mercian Shine *
    Beowulf -- Finn's Hall Porter *
    Tiny Rebel -- Cwtch *
    Marble -- Lagonda IPA* (>3PT)
    Fyne -- Long Beach Blvd.

Both offerings from Beowulf were terrific but BOTW just has to go to Marble Lagonda IPA on absolutely top form in The Euston Tap.

Next week looking hopeful, end month sessions up west but I will be blessed if I find as good a BOTW as this week.

    Decent week:

    Cannon Royall Teddy Bear
    Cannon Royall Evesham's Choice
    Craddocks Crazy Sheep*
    Beowulf Finnis Hall Porter*
    Tiny Rebel Cwtch*
    Oakham Bishops Farewell*
    Blue Monkey Infinity +1*

All starred are very worthy BOTW contenders.
BOTW Beowulf Finnis Hall Porter. This is by far the best beer I've had from this brewery, a 4.7% true porter with a deliciously moreish bitter finish.

    Another good week for me.

    Brains - Reverend James Rye.
    Sonnet 43 - Raven Stout.
Longhorns - Redneck (Camerons Strongarm, rebadged).
    Timothy Taylor - Boltmaker.
    Madness - Absolutely.*
    Dark Star - Hophead.*
    Marstons - New World Pale.
    Ilkley - Pale.*
    Imperial - In Tandem.
    Whippet - House Dogge.
    Derventio - Barbarian.
    De Ranke - XXX Bitter.*
    Copper Dragon - Best Bitter.
    Bob's - White Lion.

With an honorable mention for the XXX, the easy winner was Ilkley Pale. Apparently, it used to be only available in bottles, but has been added to the core cask range. A fantastic blonde beer using a mix of of Cascade, Chinook, Centennial and Nelson Sauvin hops. Fresh as a daisy, at Harry's Bar, Wakefield.

Dunstable at the weekend as well as some at-home boozing:

    XT 4 (3.8%)
    Jennings Cumberland (4.0%)
    Sharp's Doom Bar (4.0%)
    Tring Drop Bar (4.0%)
    Tring Bring Me Sunshine (4.2%)
    B&T Edwin Taylor's Extra Stout (4.5%)
Windsor & Eton Island Hopper Pale Ale (4.5%) (bottled)
    XT 8 (4.5%)
    Animal Quack (4.6%)
    Allendale Summit IPA (4.8%) (bottled)
    Wentworth Oatmeal Stout (4.8%)
    Hambleton Ales Nightmare Porter (5.0%)
Little Creatures Pale Ale (5.2%) (bottled)
Maritime Salted Caramel Porter (5.5%) (bottled) BOTW
    Sambrooks Battersea Rye (5.6%) (bottled)
Oakham Double Hopped Citra IPA (5.9%) (bottled)
    XT XPA (5.9%)
Meantime British Clipper IPA (6.0%) (bottled)

Some corkers this week, including the veritable XT XPA (fresh from the brewery), the B&T Extra Stout at Dunstable's excellent Globe and the Nightmare Porter at The Gary Cooper, but this week's gong is going to go to the Meantime Salted Caramel Porter; sweet caramel notes on the palate, giving way to a salty, porterish finish. Superb.
